Utopia. Recht auf Hoffnung

27.09.2025 – 11.01.2026

Opening, Friday, 26. Sep, at 7 PM

In a time of global crises, more than 60 international artists and collectives invite visitors to discover new perspectives for a more just, solidaric, and sustainable way of living together. With Utopia. Recht auf Hoffnung // Utopia. The Right to Hope, the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg makes a statement: it is not about presenting a grand blueprint for a new world, but about many micro-utopias which, in their entirety, can bring about something positive. The exhibition unites artistic works, architectural concepts, and design projects that explore new forms of community, solidarity, and sustainability—thus outlining a foundation for a hopeful future.

We are delighted that one of our latest acquisitions, Andreas Greiner, 1713 (Eternal Line), 2025 will be on view for the very first time, alongside the large-scale installation Wildwoods, 2025 by Violeta Burckhardt & Andreas Greiner.

The accompanying images document the genesis of both works: on the one hand, the intricate hand-crafted composition of 1713 seeds, arranged in a planting pattern conceived outside conventional norms—utopian in its conception; on the other hand, a 3D rendering of the site-specific installation Wildwoods, 2025. This planting project grants discarded trees a second life and an alternative future—trees whose trunks lacked the requisite straightness, whose stems were too slender, whose branches too irregular, or whose roots too exposed to meet the demands of commercial forestry. Liberated from such utilitarian criteria, these trees regain their significance as living organisms and reassert their primordial role as indispensable agents within our ecological system. – Kollektion888, Sep 2025
