Eva Beresin (*1955)  receives the Ruth Baumgarte Art Award 2025 in Bielefeld, Germany. Born in Budapest, Hungary and based in Vienna, Austria, Beresin has been awarded the 10th Ruth Baumgarte Art Prize. The honor recognizes a body of work that fuses humor, pain, and vitality – and a painter who, at seventy, continues to push the boundaries of figuration with fearless intensity.
Since her acclaimed exhibition ‚Thick Air‘ at the Albertina Vienna, Beresin has been celebrated as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary figurative painting. In her vividly charged, surreal compositions, memories, fantasies, and social masquerades converge into a dazzling visual world. We are delighted to see her join the ranks of such distinguished laureates as William Kentridge, Mona Hatoum, and Judith Hopf.
